Annual Awards: Town Report Contest

Judges in the MMA Annual Town Report Contest consider layout and design, quantity and depth of information, organization, originality, and overall usefulness of the report to residents. The winners are:

Category 1 (population 12,500-plus)
1st place: Arlington
2nd place: Brookline
3rd place: Northborough & Sudbury (tie)

Category 2 (population 5,000-12,499)
1st place: Nantucket
2nd place: Douglas

3rd place: Rockport & Stow (tie)

Category 3 (population 4,999 and under)
1st place: Edgartown
2nd place: Tisbury
3rd place: Rowe

Town Report Judges
John Kent
is a past president of the Massachusetts Association of Town Finance Committees and has been on the Easton Finance Committee since 1989. A retired educator, Kent was a selectman in Easton for six years and was active in the Massachusetts Selectmen’s Association. He is a former member of the MMA Board of Directors.

Stephen McGoldrick is deputy director of the Metropolitan Area Planning Council and has served local government in various capacities for 16 years. He has served as the chief of staff of the Chelsea Receivership, executive director of the Massachusetts Municipal Personnel Association, and personnel director for the city of Everett. He has also provided consulting and interim town management for several cities and towns.
